Prepositions with the genitive: goal in time
ἄχρι τοῦ μὴ διψῆν
‘until he is no longer thirsty’ (Plut. Moralia 3.7)
The preposition μέχρι (in poetry also ἄχρι) signals a goal in time.
ἐπισχόντες δὲ ἐν τούτῳ τῷ χώρῳ μέχρι μέσου ἡμέρης
As they stayed in that place until noon... [provisional translation]
καὶ τὸν παρελθόντα χρόνον οὕτω τυγχάνω βεβιωκὼς μέχρι ταύτης τῆς ἡμέρας ὥσπερ προσήκει τοὺς εὐσεβεῖς καὶ θεοφιλεῖς τῶν ἀνθρώπων.
In the past and until today I have lived as befits pious and godly people.
