Dative: cause as satellite

κτήσει, ἔφη, ἀγαθῶν οἱ εὐδαίμονες εὐδαίμονες
‘For, he said, fortunate people are fortunate due to the possession of good things.’ (Plat. Sym. 205a)
The dative signals a cause as a satellite.
Example Sentences:
- καὶ μὴν ἁμαρτήσῃ γε μὴ δράσας τάδε.
- καὶ δρῶν γε λύπῃ καρδίαν δηχθήσομαι.
- And yet you err if you do not do it.
μὰ τὴν πατρῴαν ἑστίαν , ἀλλ οὐχ ὕβρει λέγω τάδ'.
