Dative: cause as satellite

Syntactical Level

κτήσει, ἔφη, ἀγαθῶν οἱ εὐδαίμονες εὐδαίμονες

‘For, he said, fortunate people are fortunate due to the possession of good things.’ (Plat. Sym. 205a)

The dative signals a cause as a satellite.

Example Sentences: 

ἄλλος γάρ τ’ ἄλλοισιν ἀνὴρ ἐπιτέρπεται ἔργοις

For every man is pleased by different deeds.
